East Bay Corridors Initiative: Context and Priorities

League of Women Voters of the Bay Area board member Nancy Ianni reports from her service on ABAG’s Regional Planning Committee that new information is available for stakeholders interested in learning more about a significant set of planning efforts along the Inner East Bay.

This new information comes in the form of a recently-released draft report, “East Bay Corridors Initiative: Context and Priorities,” which outlines shared challenges and opportunities faced by more than a dozen jurisdictions seeking to implement Priority Development Areas between Rodeo and Union City. The report describes the various features of Inner East Bay corridors, and outlines draft priorities, projects, and programs for those corridors, as put forth by the jurisdictions. The report also identifies potential approaches to project and program funding.

The report comes at a time when an upswing in the economy has generated increasing activity around PDA-related efforts, and when the Bay Area as a whole is preparing to update comprehensive strategies for implementing PDAs throughout the region.
